Russell Mills is an artist I really enjoy. His work has been used often for music related things such as album covers etc. His use of materials, in particular the textures and complexity of the images is something I really appreciate, probably more so now than before. There is a resonance to his work for me and i suspect that comes from the layers and the "old" feel to some of his pieces. He uses a lot of different materials, coal dust and wax, sometimes feathers and found objects. I see similarities to my own photographs in some of his textures etc.
